Unboxing: Memebox Special #50 Step-by-Step Skincare

A whole box full of Korean skincare, step-by-step? Count me in, please! I was so excited when I saw the theme for this box and I very nearly grabbed it the moment it went up for sale. Skincare is my thing, and if there’s a chance to get skin as beautiful and clear as the South Koreans, I will be the first in queue. I tore into it as soon as I got my hands on it. Let’s see what’s in it!

The shipping date for this was fixed on 4 November and I received this on 11 November. This box is priced at USD29 but USD26 with VIP pricing, plus another USD6.99 for standard shipping.

What is Memebox?
Memebox is a non-subscription mystery beauty box company. Each regular Memebox comes with 4 to 8 full-sized or deluxe sample of Korean products, while Superbox comes with only full sized products. Shipping dates are set by the company; check the product description for information about when the box is scheduled to start shipping.

Memebox Superbox #82 The Face Shop
Korean skin care is a multi-step daily routine that sparks a ton of intrigue in the beauty world. Its billion-step regimen sounds a bit extreme to outsiders looking in, but it all boils down to treating, hydrating and protecting skin, and preventing damage before it starts!

Item 1: Mizon Alcohol Toner Mojito
Full size 150ml, Value of $22
Product Description: Fancy a bottle of mojito for your skin? This unique facial toner is formulated with all the ingredients found in a glass of mojito – lime, sugar cane, sparkling mineral water, apple and peppermint leaf juice! The lime complex will prevent skin impurities from clogging up the pores and the mineral-rich components will refresh and deliver abundant nutrients to dry, tired skin.
Quick thoughts: This sounds so interesting! Mojito for my skin? I don’t drink Mojito but from the description it sounds great, except for the “alcohol” part. Will have to try to see if the alcohol content in it irritates my dry skin – but it’s targeted towards dry, tired skin so… we’ll see.

Item 2: Taphre Special Care Mask
Full size 25ml, Value of $7
Product Description: Enriched with propolis extracts, hyaluronic acid, collagen and various fruit and nut extracts, this Special Care Mask helps replenish, repair, protect and soothe skin against dehydration and aging, for a much softer and luminous complexion.
Quick thoughts: Sheet masks – yes, more please! I wish they had sent a couple instead of just one but hey it looks like an expensive one so I guess that’s why.

Item 3: insobeau Super Yellow Intense Renew Essence
Full size 30ml, Value of $78
Product Description: An anti-aging essence made with a special idebenone formula for effectively treating fine lines and wrinkles as well as brightening up uneven and dull complexion.
Quick thoughts: I’ve actually never heard of “idebenone” – a quick search on the internet came up with “a drug initially developed for the treatment for Alzheimer’s disease”. Erm, okay. Anyway the bottle looks quite expensive – it has a good weight to it. Definitely looking forward to try it out!

Item 4: She’s Uris Rice Water Double Action
Full size 80g, Value of $42
Product Description: A moisturizing water-drop type facial cream. This is a smart, multi-functioning cream for hydrating, tone brightening, and wrinkle refining. Its formula includes rice bran water, adenosine, cacao extracts, and various herbal ingredients.
Quick thoughts: This doesn’t look very special to me. I have a ton of face cream to run through, so I won’t be opening this to test just yet.

Item 4: Tonymoly My Sunny Milky Sun Cream SPF35 PA+++
Full size 45g, Value of $10
Product Description: A mineral oil free sunscreen that works to color control uneven skin tone and to protect skin from UV exposure. It’s extremely gentle and leaves skin silky soft and smooth.
Quick thoughts: I always use sunscreen – every single day whether or not I will be in the sun much, so I’m very glad they had this! Plus Korean girls are always so fair so it’s perfect for the theme.

Item 5: Migabee Royal Jelly & Honey Energy Ampoule
Full size 12ml, Value of $30
Product Description: A highly concentrated facial ampoule enriched with nutrition-rich royal jelly and royal honey extracts. It will soothe, moisturize and strengthen skin’s natural protective barrier.
Quick thoughts: I love honey and honey-scented products so I can’t wait to try if this smells anything of honey! Even if it doesn’t, honey is supposed to be really good for the skin.

The value of this box came up to USD189 versus the USD26 I paid for the box. In terms of value, I think this box is great! I also think that the brands in this box are better… I recognized at least 3 brand names, not the usual totally unknown names that I find in Memebox. The products in it also represents the theme very well, with enough variety! I do wish they had some kind of face wash to complete the whole “step-by-step” theme but the box can only be so big!

I’m very glad I picked up this box – I’m excited to try the essence and ampoule, the sunscreen will come in handy, and the toner sounds very interesting. I’m neutral on the face cream, but that’s just me because I have a ton of face creams.

So what do you think of this box?
