Unboxing: Memebox Colorbox #4 Electric Brights

I never planned to do this but somehow December has become a month of unboxing, particularly for Memebox. But I promise that these will slow down soon – Memebox has not been launching many new boxes so that’s part of the reason, the other part is that I am feeling alright now so I haven’t been shopping like a mad woman anymore so I’m not expecting too many boxes coming my way after December. Meanwhile, please bear with me and let’s see what’s in the Electric Brights box!

I bought this as a value set with the Memebox Colorbox #5 Jewel Tones and Memebox Colorbox #6 Pastel Hues – so I only had to pay one standard shipping for 3 boxes with free upgrade to express shipping. The shipping date was fixed on 16 December and I received this on 23 December. The set of 3 boxes cost me USD30 (with a buy 2 get 1 free deal), plus another USD6.99 for shipping from Korea. Individually, it’s priced at USD15, plus another USD6.99 for standard shipping.

What is Memebox?
Memebox is a non-subscription mystery beauty box company. Each regular Memebox comes with 4 to 8 full-sized or deluxe sample of Korean products, while Superbox comes with only full sized products. Shipping dates are set by the company; check the product description for information about when the box is scheduled to start shipping.

Item 1: Vivito Vivace Color Cream Jazz Coral
Full size, 6g. Value of $32.
Product Description: This multi-pigment cream comes in a variety of different colors, which can be used as an eyeliner, a shadow, and a lip color all in one. This glides smoothly onto skin with a silky texture, completely waterproof and smudge-proof, and shimmering with subtle pearls and vibrant vividness.
Quick thoughts: While this does glide onto the skin smoothly, I find this way too slippery with absolutely no staying power. It looks rather greasy and I’m pretty sure it will crease if I use it as an eyeshadow. I’m really not sure what to do with this since it’s blue (so not a lip color) and sucks as an eye color. Look at the swatch! I had to layer it multiple times just to get it to look like that.

Item 2: Vivito Vivace Color Cream Funky Rock Pink
Full size, 6g. Value of $32.
Product Description: Again, one of the Vivace Color Creams in a lovely Funky Rock Pink. This is also a multi-player and can be used as an eyeliner, a shadow, and a lip color. Glides smoothly onto skin with a silky texture, completely waterproof and smudge-proof, and shimmering with subtle pearls.
Quick thoughts: I’m sorry but I really don’t get any of that “vibrant vividness” in any of these color creams. The texture is similar as the item above, so the staying power is also terrible and feels greasy. The only positive thing is that this is a light pink, so I can pretend to use it as a lip gloss.

Item 3: Vivito Blues Shiny Primer
Full size, 30ml. Value of $34.
Product Description: This coats over skin with a velvet-like veil which preps skin with both moisture boost and natural coverage needed to create the perfectly dewy, radiant complexion. It also firms the skin and enhances the lasting power of makeup to follow.
Quick thoughts: This is a very lightly blue-tinted primer – none of that blue will turn up once it’s applied. It’s not shiny. I’m not sure what a primer is doing in a color box since it doesn’t give off any color.

Item 4: Vivito White Angel Chorus Beam
Full size, 30ml. Value of $34.
Product Description: This is your ultimate makeup base for dry, dull skin – containing shimmering pearls for extra-refined glamour and elegance as well as youthful suppleness. It color-corrects and will also match your skin color perfectly when used together with your favourite foundation or BB cream.
Quick thoughts: This is essentially another primer. I don’t get it. Isn’t this a colour box? This has no color. I don’t know what Memebox is doing.

The total value of the box came up to $132, versus the $36.99 I paid for all 3 colorboxes, which makes it about $12.33 a box. Yes, it looks like the value of this box is very high, but I am actually very disappointed with this box. This is an “Electric Brights” box – do you see anything that is “Electric Bright” in there? The answer is NO!

This is basically a brand box from Vivito since everything is from that brand. I totally do not get why there are two primers in the box, and I don’t use primer. The two colored items in the box have terrible pigmentation and staying power, so… it’s just an all-round crappy box and I’m upset. It’s a cheap box at $12.33, but all the products are just cheap quality to me too. Since the brand is basically unheard of, I can’t sell/swap them away so I’m stuck with cheap crap that I can’t bear to throw. Not happy.
