Empties: August 2015 – Part 4

And so we have finally made it to the last part of August empties! Given how much I have and how I used to like opening up everything the moment I get them to “try”, to be able to stick with a few items and use them up, it makes me so happy! Let’s not waste any more time and dive right in!

Review: Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Pixi Pink

I have mentioned this Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Pixi Pink quite a few times on my blog so far and I think a proper full review for it is long overdue. It doesn’t look like it but I have been using this rather consistently since my haul in May when Pixi had an online sale. It retails regularly for GBP 8, but I had a 20% off, and VAT is taken off for non-UK purchases.

Claims on Website:
Awaken lips with this super-nourishing balm. The unique formula is rich but lightweight and gives a gorgeous wash of colour to lips – it’s the perfect pick-me-up anytime! Packed full of beneficial ingredients, this balm soothes lips immediately & nourishes them long term.

Packaging:
Just like a regular plastic lip balm tube; very light. Each balm has a different colour cap that represents the shade inside. The balm itself has a flat top instead of the usual slanted cut. The cap feels a little loose on mine but it does stay shut despite being thrown around in my bag.

Formula/Texture:
The balm feels very creamy but it does not have a lot of slip. I find its consistency quite heavy; it’s quite hard to explain – it’s not waxy or oily, more of a heavier in a creamy way. Maybelline Baby Lips feels a lot more lightweight and has more slip; EOS Lip Balm feels lighter but waxier. I do feel it on my lips, but I find it very comfortable and very moisturising.

Pigmentation/Longevity:
The pigmentation is incredible! Full colour with a single application, and can easily be build to full opacity. Color does last fairly long at around two to three hours without eating or drinking. I did have to reapply throughout the day, but I didn’t need a mirror, lip brush and liner like I would with my red lipstick!

If you have seen my Lipstick Addict tag, you’ll know that this is my favourite tinted lip balm at the moment. Highly recommended!

Rating: 4/5

Tag: Lipstick Addict

I was tagged by the lovely NerdyLibrarianGirl quite a few days ago; it took me awhile to do up this tag because I’m not usually a lipstick kinda gal – I like my eyeshadows, blushes and a slick of tinted lip balm to keep these lips soft and comfy. Lipstick are usually reserved for a special occasion when I can be bothered. But I shall try my very best to do this tag!

Haul: A Little Pixi Love

Recently I saw on Pixi’s instagram that they were having a sale and I immediately hopped over to their website and bought a few items.

I’ve heard so much about the Glow Tonic, that I picked up 2 – also because I needed to hit a minimum amount to qualify for free shipping. I saw a few mini-sized items which I thought was a fantastic idea to try something new so I bought them as well, and they are the Flawless Vitamin Veil Foundation in No 1 Fair (only 3g) and the Flawless Beauty Primer (only 12ml). The jewel like eyeshadow palette – the Mesmerizing Mineral Palette caught my eye and I picked one up in Emerald Gold, full of browns and greens.

Shipping took about 2.5 weeks to reach Singapore from the UK, which I thought was reasonable. I’m so excited to try these out! Have you tried anything from Pixi, or did you pick up anything from the sale as well?

Haul: Looking Fantastic

A quick little haul – a case of midnight boredom, half conscious and itchy fingers led to a quick clicking of the “buy” button, which was quickly and clearly forgotten by the next morning. Then came shock nearly a month later when a box of goodies from Lookfantastic.com came. Oh dear.

Thankfully the damage was not very big but a really weird mix of items. A Lipstick Queen lipstick in Stoked, such a gorgeous sheer orange red that I think was a genius buy for summer; another lip product was also in the bag – the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Pixi Pink, which I have yet to try.

Following all that was a pack of Elemis FreshSkin Make-up Away Cleansing Wipes and a Kent Shampoo and Massage Brush; I’m amused that I bought these but glad that I did – cleansing wipes are always useful to have around and a good head/hair massage should help to ease the headaches that I have been having of late.

That’s all for my little haul – have you bought any beauty items lately?
