Empties #13: September 2014 – Part 2

Continuing on my EPIC empties post, here are a ton more empties that I am waving goodbye to! This is actually the more insane half of the empties post… I couldn’t believe it when I started counting them!

Monday Masking #3: Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask

Boo! Now, I think I should have just named this series “scary photo of the week”. 🙂

I’ve featured this range of mask in tons of my empties post and yet I have not dedicated a single post to them! Dermal masks are one of the most affordable masks that I can get my hands on – if they’re on sale, you can get a big bunch of them for slightly less than SGD0.50 each including shipping from Korea, which explains why I have a huge stock of it.

I find most dermal masks the same – the size of the sheets and packaging are definitely similar; the biggest difference lies in the scent. The Royal Jelly Collagen Essence mask does not have a scent, unlike some (but not all) of the fruitier ones from the line.

The sheets are all full of essence – wet enough but not dripping everywhere. I don’t think the impact between the different types of sheet masks differs a lot – they make my skin feels more moisturized, but the claims of ‘anti-aging’ or ‘whitening’ effect on different masks cannot really be seen. I honestly don’t expect to see all that with one mask session; masking is a just relaxing ritual that I love.

Do you use sheet masks regularly too?

Empties #12: August 2014 – Part 2

Because using up 12 items in a month is not enough, here are another 16 more! I’m thinking I seriously need to start again on a makeup budget plan because I’ve really been overspending on beauty lately and collecting too much too fast ever since the last one ended! Anyway, here are the rest of what I have finished in the month of August!

Empties #10: June 2014

After 2 months of finishing massive amounts of empties, I’m finally back to being able to cover it all in just one post! Nonetheless, I still feel it’s a good amount to have emptied in a month. I’ve been working on finishing up some larger and full size pots and bottles of skincare, such as my serums, toners and creams so hopefully there will be some in the next empties post. Anyway, let’s get on with this month’s empties!

Empties #9: May 2014 – Part 2

Here comes part 2 of May’s empties! A lot more makeup items in this half – so if you’re interested to find out what they are, just keep reading!

13. YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Fond de Teint
I’ve seen lots of rave reviews about this and was so excited to try it. Unfortunately I thought this was just a very average product. It feels light on the skin, but coverage was not great and I thought didn’t sit so well on my dry skin – it looked patchy in my dry areas and was not as dewy as I hoped.

14. Purer Skin Miracle Serum
This wins for cutest aesthetics – this must be the smallest dropper bottle that I’ve ever seen! But in terms of efficacy, it was really hard to say because the bottle is so small that I only had about 3 uses out of this.

15. Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield BB Complete
Reviewed here. Really enjoyed this. I recently saw a new packaging for this with red wordings – not sure if it’s a new product altogether or just the packaging that changed but would probably be checking that out soon!

16. K Palette Real Lasting Eyepencil 24h 1 day Tattoo
An item that I will not buy again. The lasting power is great but because of how skinny it is, this kept breaking. I don’t press hard with my eyeliners but even so, as long as I expose more than 1mm of the pencil, this will break. More of this has broken off than gone on my eye. It’s a waste of money!

17. Bio-Essence Bio Spring Water
18. La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water

I’ve gotten used to wiping down my face with some sort of spring water before my day and night skincare routine – something that I picked up from watching korean beauty shows. I don’t know if it actually did anything, but I do like the fresh feeling so I just keep doing it.

19. MAC Gold Reflects Glitter
It’s pretty amazing that I actually managed to complete a full bottle of MAC pigments! I like shimmery nail polish so I often add some of these to colors that I find too dull. I’ve also given away and sold some samples of it because I thought I would never finish it but voila, I finally have!

20. Olivella Face & Body Soap
I really enjoy Olivella’s body wash – they don’t lather up very much which takes some getting used to at first, but I like how soft it makes my skin feels.

21. Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco Tropical-Riche Shampoo
Reviewed here. I love this shampoo and have been using this very sparingly because it’s expensive so it’s lasted me for quite a while.

22. Dermal Vitamin Collagen Essence Mask
23. Dermal Herb Collagen Essence Mask

More face masks that I’ve completed! Have been really busy lately and getting home really late this month so did not mask as much as I usually do.

So that’s a wrap for this month’s empties! Whew! 23 items in the bin; I’m really proud of myself. Do you like reading empties posts like me?

Empties #8: April 2014 – Part 1

I had to split up this month’s empties into 2 posts because there were just too many products – which is a good sign! I could be typing forever if I did it all in 1 post! I tried to split them by type, but thought if I tried to show all the bath items in 1 post then it would be pretty boring. So, random it is!

1. Petitfee Collagen & CoQ10 Hydro Gel Essence Mask
2. My Beauty Diary Birds Nest Mask
3. Clearderm Herb Essence Mask
4. Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask
5. Dermal Grape Collagen Essence Mask
6. My Beauty Diary Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Sheet Mask

Used up another bunch of sheet masks. I love using sheet masks! They’re so convenient and relaxing, great for an after-work quick pampering.

7. Pangea Organics Japanese Matcha Tea Facial Mask
I like the scent and how it works both as a mask, and as a scrub upon removal. However, I don’t like how it claims to “do everything all at once” (including deep-cleanse, detoxify, exfoliate, tone, hydrate, prevent wrinkles, nourish, protect and balance), and then ask you to follow up with a moisturizer and oil. I thought it’s supposed to do everything?

8. Ciracle Good-bye Blackhead Blackhead Off Cotton Mask
This is a really weird mask – it’s actually a sheet mask for the nose, and then followed up with a cotton bud to wipe off excess sebum, and then extract the other blackheads. The mask is suppose to dissolve blackheads to make extraction easier, but I’m not a big fan… it smells strongly of chemicals and I don’t feel that it is good for my skin.

9. Clarins Extra-Comfort Cleansing Cream
Reviewed here. A nice comfortable cleansing cream, but not one for makeup removal. I like using it when my skin is feeling extra sensitive.

10. Make Up Store Brush Cleansing Soap
The second one I’ve used up; I’ve just repurchased another two and I love it! It’s my preferred method for cleaning brushes; review will be up soon!

11. Love More Deep Hydrating Aqua Brulee
Reviewed here. I like the texture but find it not moisturizing enough.

12. L’occitane Shower Gel 3 Essential Oils
Just a little shower gel that I bring along to the gym; took it from a hotel stay – nothing special about it, and I won’t pay to purchase it.

13. Sally Hansen Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat
14. Sally Hansen Complete Care Extra Moisturizing 4-in-1 Treatment

A couple of nail items that has dried out. I don’t think they did very much; the top coat did not give enough shine, especially as compared to Seche Vite, even though it claims to be “mega shine”. And I just don’t use the treatment consistently enough to see a difference in my nails.

15. Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner
Reviewed here. I really liked this; simple, affordable and does the job well.

16. Tsubaki Head Spa Shampoo
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this item before but I do like this; it’s not an everyday shampoo, more of a weekly deep cleansing for the hair to get out all the gunk for the week. It’s too drying to be used daily, but I love how clean and light my hair feels after the weekly cleanse.

That’s it for the first part of my empties post! Stay tuned for part 2, which has more makeup items, soon! 🙂

Empties #7: March 2014

This month I tried to clear out a lot of the sample/travel size items that I have been accumulating – whilst I love having them available for holidays, I don’t actually go on that many holidays so I definitely had to downsize a bit!

1. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
2. Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets

Cleansing facial wipes are a gym essential – I cant bring myself to exercise with makeup on! The Simple wipes are very nice; they are a good size wipe with no sting, and removes makeup easily. I used to love the Biore ones because of how wet and effective they are, even with waterproof mascara, but now I’m a little frustrated with its small sheet size; it takes a few sheets to wipe my whole face so it’s quite wasteful and expensive that way.

3. Dermal Bee Venom Collagen Essence Mask
4. My Beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask

These are by no means the only facial sheet masks I’ve used this month; somehow I remembered to keep the wrapping for these. I love sheet masks and am not too fussy about what brand or type as I don’t find them to be so different in terms of efficacy, so these worked well.

5. Dior Diorskin Nude Compact in 030 Medium Beige
Got this sample from the Dior counter and have been using it on the go in my small Z-palette – I do like this; the powder is very smooth, feels light on the skin, but does not look powdery. Would consider purchasing.

6. Cosmetika Compact Powder in 302
A powder I received from a subscription beauty box that I didn’t use much; the texture is quite hard and dry, plus it got ‘bumpy’ after a couple of uses. Throwing it out because I won’t be using it any more.

7. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect Ultra Lift & Firm
8. Astalift Whitening Cream
The Elizabeth Arden cream is meant to be an all night repair for face and throat; for nights that my skin feels extra dry this came in very handy – slap on a good amount of this cream before bed and wake up to very well hydrated skin. The Astalift cream paled in comparison – it’s not bad, just nothing outstanding except for its orange tint.

9. Murad Essential C Day Moisture SPF 30 in 3 Hydrate/Protect
Quite like this; this has a faint citrus scent, and absorbs very quickly into the skin. I find that it worked very well under makeup even on a hot day!

10. Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam
11. Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Whitening Water
12. Dior Addict Eau Delice

A few items that I’ve been using at the gym; not too many thoughts on them because all I want is get clean, smell good and go home/out quickly.

13. IOPE Super Vital Extra Moist Softener
14. IOPE Super Vital Extra Moist Serum

Mentioned these in a post recently. Bought a trial set of IOPE items to try; unfortunately the scent was too overwhelming for me so I didn’t really like most of them. The serum was not bad though. Won’t purchase.

15. Sensodyne Pronamel Daily Toothpaste
16. Watsons Nail Polish Remover

A couple of mundane but must have items. Sensodyne is my favourite toothpaste brand; they don’t taste too strongly of mint like most other brands, so that’s a big plus for me, and my sensitive teeth feels good with them. I’ve finished so many bottles of the Watson’s nail polish removers – mainly because they’re so cheap and does the job fine.

So that’s it for my empties this month! So I cheated a little bit with the facial sheet masks and all the mini/travel size bottles, but I have a few bigger bottles that I am almost done with and I can’t wait for them to be on next month’s post! Have you used up any items this month?
