The 5Min Review: YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum

Lately I’ve been working really hard – trying to clear off some work before I take some time off to begin my part time studies. I’ve been sleeping less than 5hours a day and my eyebags are so huge and dark that they’re practically touching the floor. I’ve been using tons of eye creams lately; some people are sceptical about how much eye creams can actually do but I rather be cautious than regret later!

A really quick review today on the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone serum. I got this and many eye creams free from a family member who won a contest to review eye creams for their magazine awards. The way the contest are structured are so lame; each participant had about 30 eye creams and 30 days to test!. I’m glad though – because she only tested about 5 and gave the rest away!

Midweek Peek #23: I Spy Some Eye Creams

A quick midweek peek at the eye creams that I’m using at the moment – it’s a little crazy but I currently have 6 of them in rotation! I received a lot of them from a magazine contest and they’re expiring by the end of this year, so I’m trying to use them all up before then!

1. Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes
This was from a beauty box; this feels pretty nice – it’s quite light, sinks in fairly quickly and hydrating.

2. For Beloved One Polypeptide DNA Resilience Lift Eye Cream
This was one of gifts from the contest. I’m not a big fan because it’s quite thick and probably more suitable for an older audience. It hasn’t given me problems but I’ve decided to use on my neck instead.

3. Lancome Renergie Yeux Multi-lift
I like the eye cream; very lightweight and feels cooling on the eyes, and hydrating. I don’t use the concealer attached to it much though as it’s a really fair colour and honestly I don’t like the concept.

4. b.seen i’m wrinkle eraser
Another contest gift – I like the funky packaging. The product is okay – but also quite thick and targeted towards older age group. It does temporarily smooth out the skin while it’s on.

5. YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum
6. L’Oreal Youth Code Rejuvenating Eye Essence
Two very liquid eye serum/essences. They’re very lightweight but I’m too lazy to use them beneath the eye creams consistently so I haven’t used them enough to really form an opinion.

So that’s the eye creams that I’m currently using! It’s really hard for me to tell if the eye creams/serums work because I don’t have any eye wrinkles… and I don’t know if the fact that I don’t have wrinkles is because the creams/serums are working! But I guess prevention is always better than cure!

Have you tried any of them?

Empties #9: May 2014 – Part 2

Here comes part 2 of May’s empties! A lot more makeup items in this half – so if you’re interested to find out what they are, just keep reading!

13. YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Fond de Teint
I’ve seen lots of rave reviews about this and was so excited to try it. Unfortunately I thought this was just a very average product. It feels light on the skin, but coverage was not great and I thought didn’t sit so well on my dry skin – it looked patchy in my dry areas and was not as dewy as I hoped.

14. Purer Skin Miracle Serum
This wins for cutest aesthetics – this must be the smallest dropper bottle that I’ve ever seen! But in terms of efficacy, it was really hard to say because the bottle is so small that I only had about 3 uses out of this.

15. Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield BB Complete
Reviewed here. Really enjoyed this. I recently saw a new packaging for this with red wordings – not sure if it’s a new product altogether or just the packaging that changed but would probably be checking that out soon!

16. K Palette Real Lasting Eyepencil 24h 1 day Tattoo
An item that I will not buy again. The lasting power is great but because of how skinny it is, this kept breaking. I don’t press hard with my eyeliners but even so, as long as I expose more than 1mm of the pencil, this will break. More of this has broken off than gone on my eye. It’s a waste of money!

17. Bio-Essence Bio Spring Water
18. La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water

I’ve gotten used to wiping down my face with some sort of spring water before my day and night skincare routine – something that I picked up from watching korean beauty shows. I don’t know if it actually did anything, but I do like the fresh feeling so I just keep doing it.

19. MAC Gold Reflects Glitter
It’s pretty amazing that I actually managed to complete a full bottle of MAC pigments! I like shimmery nail polish so I often add some of these to colors that I find too dull. I’ve also given away and sold some samples of it because I thought I would never finish it but voila, I finally have!

20. Olivella Face & Body Soap
I really enjoy Olivella’s body wash – they don’t lather up very much which takes some getting used to at first, but I like how soft it makes my skin feels.

21. Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco Tropical-Riche Shampoo
Reviewed here. I love this shampoo and have been using this very sparingly because it’s expensive so it’s lasted me for quite a while.

22. Dermal Vitamin Collagen Essence Mask
23. Dermal Herb Collagen Essence Mask

More face masks that I’ve completed! Have been really busy lately and getting home really late this month so did not mask as much as I usually do.

So that’s a wrap for this month’s empties! Whew! 23 items in the bin; I’m really proud of myself. Do you like reading empties posts like me?

Unboxing: Vanity Trove Nov 13

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve subscribed to beauty boxes; I used to have it delivered every month for more than a year, but stopped early this year as I found the offerings to be less and less attractive and the samples were also smaller and totally not worth it.

However, Vanity Trove recently had a revamp – such that you can pick what samples you want! Depending on how fast you are, for $25 a month, you can actually get a couple of full size products. Plus, they add new items every week and there is an option to subscribe only whenever you want it so you don’t have to commit to a box every month. So I was pretty keen to give it a go again!

So what’s in my box this month?

  • Fancl Aging Care Mask – Full Sized
  • Fancl Aging Care Essence 18ml – Full Sized
  • Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening BB Cream – 7ml
  • Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening Smoothing Cleanser – 15ml
  • YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Illuminating Foundation in B30 Beige – 5ml
  • Benefit the POREfessional – 7.5ml
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo – 30g Travel Size
  • Watsons Bird’s Nest Whitening & Firming Facial Cream – 2g Sachet
  • Kerastase Elixir K Ultime – 3ml

I’m pretty happy with my box this month – a full size Fancl essence which retails at about $78; I’ve never tried anything from Fancl so I’m excited. I’ve always wanted to try out the YSL Le Touche Eclat foundation and I’m happy it came in a good sample size in a tube. I have also never used dry shampoo before so I’ll be looking forward to test it out. I think, just the above-mentioned 3 products have already made me happy about my beauty box this month and I will be enjoying testing out the rest of the box!

Have you subscribed to any beauty boxes and what do you think of them?
