EOTD: The Weekend Blues

A very quick eyelook for today – I haven’t done one in ages! I’ve been stuck in a neutral-eye rut for ages so I decided to do something fun and different – not too crazy because I’m going out for lunch with my parents and godfamily. Because I have asian eyelids, when I have my eyes wide opened, nothing much from my eyelids actually show – but sometimes I like it because people get surprised when I blink and they realise that I’m actually wearing something else on my lids!

Midweek Peek: The Rut

Lately work has been piling on and I haven’t really had the time to think of makeup looks. You could say that I’ve been in a rut – using the same things over and over again. I didn’t even realize it until I saw the huge dent in my Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Poesie! It’s a neutral palette, but so easy to do a good eye-look in just under 5 minutes because all the colours in the palette are so beautiful, blendable and work so well together that there’s really no thinking involved. Just needs a little NARS Pro-Prime first to prime the lids, and a little LA Girl Endless Semi Permanent Eyeliner in Very Black to finish up the look. To round it off, I add some MAC Powder Blush in Small Vanity on my cheeks and I’m instantly looking more polished – I’ve had this for awhile and it’s a very beautiful neutral ‘dusty rose tan’ blush that’s really hard to screw up with. Neutral shades are just so easy to get stuck in a rut with because they are so simple to work with but can still look great without much thought!

I’ll probably be switching up my makeup now that I know I’ve been doing the same thing for a while, but I thought it was interesting to share! Have you been stuck in a makeup rut as well?

Review: Chanel Harmonie Levres Lip Palette in Arabesque

Hi everyone! Just wanted to come and give a quick little review of my recent haul – the Chanel Harmonie Levres Lip Palette in Arabesque. At $86 for a palette with 5.5g of product, it is quite an expensive splurge so for anyone looking to add this to your collection, I’m hoping that this review will be useful in helping you see if you want to spend that amount of money!

Haul: Chanel Harmonie Levres Lip Palette in Arabesque

Hi. Would you like to see my new toy? Enter the Chanel Harmonie Levres Lip Palette in Arabesque, from the Chanel Le Blanc 2015 collection. It’s so pretty in the packaging that I can’t even swatch it. I will, but just let me stare at it a little more. It looks way prettier in real life, but I literally just came home and it’s 8pm and I can’t wait to show it off, so I took a quick snap of it in my terribly lit room.

This cost me S$86, a big ouch, but just look at all 5 lip colours there – how could I say no?!

This is limited edition, so if you want to get it, be sure to make it down now. I don’t actually foresee it running out so quickly, as Chanel items are pricey and lip palettes are usually not that high in demand. But I just fell in love with the packaging that I had to get it right away.

Review: Chanel Sublimage La Creme Yeux

When I get too stressed at work, one of the things I do is go totally crazy at the beauty counter located not far from my work place. A particular item that I always end up buying is… insanely overpriced eye cream. Somehow, stress always induces me to buy expensive eye cream – when I have worries at work, I think about the wrinkles I’ll get. I have a big bucket of very expensive eye creams to go through, and now I’m not too sure if I am being paid enough for the amount of stress I get at work!

One of my insane purchases is the Chanel Sublimage La Creme Yeux. This costs about S$300. Yes. That’s S$300. For 15g of product. I cannot even begin to explain how I could have parted with S$300 for such a small bottle like this, but I did. I must have been stressed out of my mind.

5 Friday Favourites #4

It’s been a while since I did my 5 Friday Favourites… and they have changed up quite a bit since my last one! Of course, my stash has also increased a lot so I have a lot more to choose from!

Healgel Intensive has been helping my skin heal so much faster than before and my only regret now is that I didn’t try it sooner. MAC Ring of Saturn Mineralize Blush is a limited edition blush that I recently rediscovered; this gives a bright pop of colour with a beautiful sheen. The Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in 234 Poesie looks like just any other neutral eyeshadow but man it looks stunning applied on the lids, and application is effortless. Had the Bourjois Bronzing Primer for the longest time but I only rediscovered cream base products as my skin is looking a lot better than usual; this makes contouring so easy and looks absolutely natural. Got the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm in a buy-one-get-one-free sale lately, and boy is it worth it; makes my lip feels so soft and smells incredible, it’s fast becoming my favourite nighttime lip balm.

So that’s 5 items that I have been absolutely loving lately; what about you?

Review: Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Poésie #234

I’ve held back lately on purchasing expensive eyeshadow palettes lately – partly because I’ve spent too much on skincare, and partly because I already have a lot of neglected high end palettes that I really ought to use more. But when I saw this Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Poésie #234, and with a S$50 voucher gifted by the boyfriend, I could not resist picking it up!

Chanel has recently launched a whole new range of Les 4 Ombres Quadras featuring an all new formula with Poesie the only limited edition of the bunch. I was not really a big fan of their baked formulas in the past – they used to be hard, dry, and not very pigmented; however, when I swatched this in store I thought it felt really different from the old formulas and was stunning!

5 Friday Favourites #3

Here’s another 5 items that I have been obsessed with lately…

Still in love with my Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No 7 in 208 The Vamp – such a gorgeous palette with amazing payoff. // The Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 74 Ultra Rose is limited edition and looks scary in the pan, but a light dusting of it gives such a gorgeous flush. // The Chanel Rouge Allure in 39 Precious is a plummy shade that can be worn full on for a vampy look or sheered out for the day. // Orange/coral lips are not my usual choice, but the Lipstick Queen Endless Summer Lipstick in Stoked is so easy to wear and feels oh so comfortable on the lips. // Last but not least the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder is really lightweight, and not too powdery despite its “matte” name.

So here we are! What are your favourites these days?
