5 Friday Favourites #5

Wow, I have been neglecting my 5 Friday Favourites! It’s not that I don’t have any – somehow I just never remember to put them up. I’ve been on the move lately – taking some weekend trips as well as running about town meeting up with friends since it’s the holidays so I have been enjoying things that are convenient, travel-friendly or have more than one use.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer is a great cheek highlighter for the face, and can be used as a brow bone shade as well. I’ve been loving the Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment – a nice soft rose shade on the lips and provides moisture at the same time. Covergirl CG Smoothers Concealer in 710 Light works well when you’re short on time or have forgotten to bring foundation along; in a pinch I just swipe a couple of strokes everywhere, blend it in, and that’s all I need.

I’ve been bringing around this mini tube of Benefit Stay Don’t Stray – the itty bitty size is just too cute but of course it’s not just about the packaging; it works really well at keeping eyeshadow in place. The Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Gloss in Belle looks so beautiful on the lips; it’s not too sticky, feels comfortable on and easy to throw on towards the end of the day to vamp up your look for the night.

So that’s 5 items that I have been absolutely loving lately; what about you?

Review: Kiss & Belle Deluxe Lipsurgence Lip Set

Hi everyone! Today I have a review on the Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set – one of several limited edition sets launched in the Tarte Holiday 2014 Collection. It seems like every year Tarte has a set of mini Lipsurgence! I missed out on last year’s so when I saw this set with 6 mini size Lipsurgences and 2 lip glosses looking so cute with their teeny tiny size and pretty gold and purple holiday design, I had to bring it home! Let’s take a look!

Haul: Sephora… Again!

Holiday season and Sephora? They are a matchmade in haul heaven and a pain in the pockets! I just couldn’t leave Sephora without buying something with so many new holiday gift sets popping up, so over the weekend when I *passed by* Sephora, I ended up walking out with a big bag of makeup.

First up is a box of 6 scented fizzy bath balls from Sephora which costs S$18 – I bought it because I have a couple of trips coming up. Vacations are my only chance for a long bath as I don’t have a bath tub at home; I couldn’t justify buying 20 bath bombs (half for me and half for the bf) from Lush, given how expensive they are, so wanted to mix it up with some cheaper ones like these.

Next is the NYX Pure Decadence Butter Gloss Set. At S$20, I thought they are quite reasonably priced, although not really a great steal. Included in this set is NYX Butter Gloss in Red Velvet, Tiramisu and Devil’s Food Cake; a really good mix across the color spectrum. I’ve heard a lot about the NYX Butter Gloss, but this is the first time I’ve got my grabby paws on some.

Finally, is the Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set which set me back S$49 for a set of 8 lip products. I feel like I’ve been buying a lot of lip products lately but little itty bitty lip products are just so irresistible! I’ve tried a matte Lipsurgence before and wasn’t really a big fan of the strong minty taste/smell but… look at them! They’re so cute! How could I say no?! And S$49 for 8 cute little lippies? Yes!

Anyway that’s it for my “little” haul. I hope you’ve enjoyed peeking at what I’ve bought; I always love reading about what other people are buying!

Haul: A Trip to Sephora

Just a couple of days ago a new Sephora outlet popped up right in my neighbourhood! That means less than 15 minutes walk to a world of beauty products! Hurrah! Of course, the boyfriend would not be too happy about it. But when a Sephora store opens almost at your doorstep, you know that your luck is turning way for the better! And how could I say no to a little opening celebration shopping? I also mentioned earlier that I’ve found a new job, so I think that’s a great reason to pamper myself a little!

So what did I get in Sephora?

Final Swatch #10: Tarte Amazonian Clay Mineral Bronzer in Park Ave Princess

I recently got rid of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Mineral Bronzer in Park Ave Princess – I had picked up a small travel version of it about a year ago but had barely used it. I have heard a lot of great things about this bronzer, so I had picked it up without even swatching it.

Sadly, I don’t think this did me any favours – it has a pretty strong sheen to it so did not look good at all as a contour. The colour was also a little too coppery for me to use all over, especially since I have a yellow undertone. It just does not look natural on me, and not the most flattering.

So this was a fail for me; I have sold this off and hopefully the new owner will be able to give it a little more love than I did.

Empties #12: August 2014 – Part 2

Because using up 12 items in a month is not enough, here are another 16 more! I’m thinking I seriously need to start again on a makeup budget plan because I’ve really been overspending on beauty lately and collecting too much too fast ever since the last one ended! Anyway, here are the rest of what I have finished in the month of August!

Tag: Lipstick Addict

I was tagged by the lovely NerdyLibrarianGirl quite a few days ago; it took me awhile to do up this tag because I’m not usually a lipstick kinda gal – I like my eyeshadows, blushes and a slick of tinted lip balm to keep these lips soft and comfy. Lipstick are usually reserved for a special occasion when I can be bothered. But I shall try my very best to do this tag!

Midweek Peek #6: What’s on my Lips now?

A quick midweek peek into what I’ve been spotting on my lips – not really a lip product person, but somehow over the years I’ve managed to accumulate a huge amount of them; I’ve been trying to justify my purchases by making sure I carry a few around everyday so I remember to use them.

Tarte Lipsurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint in Fiery; a bit drying but I do like how it looks on me with a little finger blending to lighten and soften the color.// Boots No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Lovely; had this in my collection for so long and I go through phases of loving it and getting bored of it, and now I’m back in love with it. //BeneFit Cosmetics Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Sugarbomb; a little too sheer but looks pretty paired on top of a bright lipstick and does not feel too sticky.// Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait; a long time love that’s almost used up, looks so pretty on and feels so comfortable.

What are you spotting on your lips right now?

Haul: Small Tarte Kit

Not sure if one product counts as a “haul” but I wanted to put up a quick post of what I received as a prize from Sephora!

Recently Sephora Singapore had a facebook contest to celebrate the arrival of Tarte to the Singapore stores. I entered for fun, never expecting that I would somehow win. But I did! So yay!

It’s a tiny set but I’m happy! This Tarte kit is called Prime, Shine & Define, and has 3 small samples of Clean Slate Poreless – a primer, Amazonian Clay BB, and Gifted – a mascara. Can’t wait to try them all out!
