Random Thoughts #12: Moving On

Dear readers, if you have been following this blog for a while, you might have noticed that I’ve been upset, really upset at work for quite some time. There’s been a ton of office politics that has nothing to do with the actual work – a lot of people leaving the company, no management oversight, infighting, mind games, badly communicated corporate decisions, with very inexperienced supervisors. I was also picked on at times, and it makes me feel sad because I have contributed a lot professionally. Now it pains me to go to work everyday and along the way, I have lost my mojo.

I am finally free. I have found a new job – a new challenge, something that’s indirectly related to what I’m doing now so I am not very sure if I am up to it. I’m terrified and excited. But I know if I don’t try, I may never know if I will be good at it. The pay is not much more and probably underpaid for the role, but I am inexperienced at it so I’m glad they gave me the chance to try and I think, it’s important to do something interesting and challenging rather than rot away doing something I hate.

I’m starting the new job in the new year so I might be posting less next year but while I’m serving out my notice, I should be posting a lot and regularly. I want to just share that life is short and I regret wasting the last 3 years at my current job – I was there for 5 years and I should have left after 2 years of learning what I could there and left when there was nothing more to learn. I stayed because I wanted regular work hours and my boss was nice to me. These are not good reasons to stay in a job because bosses can change (which happened), or their characters can change (which also happened), and regular work hours also make you a regular employee.

I wish that everyone will push for more in life. Let’s hope that everything will turn out well. 🙂

Haul & Review: MAC Fluidline Eye-liner Gel in Dark Majesty

Another item that I picked up from the MAC Heirloom Mix collection is the MAC Fluidline Eye-liner Gel in Dark Majesty. This costs SGD33 for 3g of product. Like the rest of the collection, this comes in limited edition packaging with a smooth glossy coat and silver shimmers, but otherwise regular shaped pot.

From MAC website:
A gel formula that provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Goes on “foolproof” with a brush in an easy dip-and-stroke action. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. Lines up in a rich array of colours and finishes. Brush sold separately. Decadently encased in limited-edition refined black packaging collaged with silver sparkles.

Haul & Review: MAC Pressed Pigment in Modern Majesty

It’s been awhile since I bought any MAC products – probably because of my Korean beauty kick. But I saw this new collection – the Heirloom Mix collection – in stores and somehow I was blinded by the shimmery limited edition packaging and caved. There are 8 new limited edition shades of MAC Pressed Pigment in the collection and I chose the one in Modern Majesty.

Review: Shara Shara Petit Friend Lovely Tint in Sexy Red

I picked up this lip tint on my recent trip to Korea – mainly because I was literally pulled into the shop by the sales assistant, and also because they held out a ‘free goodie’ to lure me in. But look at how adorable it is! I think Shara Shara’s target clients are of a younger age group – most of the products are very cutely packaged, as well as very colorful. The shade range is also very “on trend”, so it’s probably not a brand that you will want to go for neutral makeup. Today I’m reviewing the Shara Shara Petit Friend Lovely Tint in the shade Sexy Red.

Review: Ariul Spa Water 24 hours Moisturizing Refreshing Mist

I received this recently from the Earth & Sea Memebox and I have been using this ever since. I like face mists – they’re great particularly if you live in a hot climate, which I am, or just want to have a quick pick-me-up during the day after staring at the computer for 8 straight hours, which I always do.

Claims from Memebox website:
Ariul’s Refreshing Mist is made from pure spa water extracted straight from Belgium and extremely rich in minerals, various amino acids, and moisture. It works to deliver an instant replenishment into your skin, creating a moisture barrier for preventing any dehydration for the next 24 hours at the least. It also be used as a boosting serum for enhancing absorbance of other skincare products.

Unboxing: LookFantastic Beauty Box October 2014

Another unboxing – this time it’s finally not a Memebox! I shop quite often on the LookFantastic website so when I saw that they were coming out with their own beauty box, I just had to get it! This is actually their second box – sadly I missed the first one, and it costs £15 inclusive of shipping, so it’s approximately SGD32. Let’s see how this fare!

Unboxing: Memebox Special #39 Cafe Box

First off, I want to apologize for the crappy photos in this post because I got this box while I was on holiday so it’s been sitting in my house for quite a while already. I really want to clear my backlog of unboxing and didn’t want to wait for good lighting! Also, since it’s quite late already I won’t actually list all the details/descriptions for the products out like I usually do – if you really want them, just drop me a note and I will try to send you the details!

The shipping date for this was fixed on 2 October and I received this sometime before 13 October. This box is priced at USD23, but I got it at VIP price of USD20, plus another USD6.99 for standard shipping.

Haul: Korean Beauty

Hi everyone! I’m back!!! If you haven’t noticed, I’ve actually been away for the last 10 days – taking a much needed break, in Korea! Of course, going to the land of beauty and flawless skin, I couldn’t help but pick up… tons of beauty products!

I’m not actually going to list out everything that I bought because there is just way too much! The bulk of what I bought was sheet masks – they were so incredibly cheap and I just couldn’t help but keep buying them! There were a lot of offers of buy 1 get 1 free, and the original price of just 1 piece was already cheaper than what I pay for them in Singapore!

If anyone is headed to Korea and looking to go crazy on beauty products, do check out Myeongdong or the area around Ewha Women’s University. I could just shop at these areas the entire day! The sales people can be a little pushy but they are also very generous with samples.

Anyways, hope you had a good time ogling at my huge haul. Wahahaha. 😀

Monday Masking #5: The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

It’s Monday Masking time! Today we’re revisiting a mask that I’ve had for quite awhile – I’ve also reviewed this The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask a few months back here. I didn’t particularly liked it back then, and honestly, I’m still not feeling the love now. I don’t hate it and I still can’t stand the smell, but I will still use it up because while it isnt doing very much for my skin, it doesn’t do any harm either.

One thing though – this takes ages to use up. If it does something for your skin, then it’s really great value. I’ve used it dozens of times and it is still more than half full!

Have you tried this mask and what are your thoughts on this?
